Design and build backend services and APIs that power AI features
Integrate and optimize LLMs from leading providers prompts, structured outputs, streaming, tool calling, cost/latency tuning
Design and build AI agents from single-purpose to multi-step, tool-using systems with the right balance of autonomy, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop
Develop tools and integrations that connect agents to real systems safely
Own model evaluation, drift monitoring, and AI observability eval suites, quality/latency/cost/safety tracking, regression detection
Champion AI governance and responsible AI privacy, PII, access controls, audit trails, versioning
Implement real-time and event-driven features where needed (e.g. WebSocket)
Collaborate with the Data team on upstream data, vector indexes, and embeddings
Establish AI engineering best practices and mentor engineers
Consult directly with clients on the right AI architecture
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
5+ years backend engineering, with 1–2 years shipping AI/LLM features in production
Strong proficiency in a modern backend language with async programming (e.g. Python)
Working knowledge of relational and vector databases (e.g. pgvector, Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant)
Production experience with commercial LLM APIs (OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic) and RAG pipelines
Shipped AI agents or tool-using LLM systems in production with a view on when agents are the right answer
Practical experience with LLM evaluation, drift detection, and observability (e.g. LangFuse, LangSmith, or in-house)
Awareness of AI governance and responsible AI privacy, PII, versioning, auditability
Familiarity with LLM orchestration tooling (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or equivalents)
Strong API design fundamentals OAuth 2.0, rate limiting, retries, resilient integrations
Strong written and spoken English

Agent frameworks/protocols (MCP, OpenAI Agents SDK, LangGraph, CrewAI)
AI risk/compliance frameworks (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001)
Document processing for unstructured data (Docling, Unstructured, Tika)
Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, GCP)
Microsoft Graph / SharePoint / PowerBI integrations
Consultancy or client-facing background
