Job Description

AI & Data Risk Governance & Control is a centralized Line 2 function under Group Risk Management, responsible for enterprise‑wide oversight of AI and data risks. The function ensures that AI systems used by the Bank are safe, fair, explainable, resilient, and well‑governed across their full lifecycle, in alignment with regulatory expectations and industry best practices.

Role Overview

This is a senior leadership role responsible for leading and building a team of AI Risk Specialists / AI Risk Validation Specialists within Group Risk Management. The role provides independent Line 2 oversight of AI (including Generative AI and Agentic AI) and advanced analytics activities across the Bank.

The incumbent will set the enterprise vision, standards, and operating model for AI risk assessment and oversee assessment of high materiality and high risk AI use cases, and act as a key senior stakeholder to business, technology, compliance, and regulators. The role carries enterprise accountability, regular engagement with senior management, and representation of the Bank in regulatory and industry forums.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of AI Risk Specialists, providing technical direction, coaching, and performance management.
  • Build sustainable AI risk assessment and oversight capability, including workforce planning, skills development, and succession.
  • Set clear expectations, operating rhythms, and quality standards for independent AI validation activities across the Bank.
  • Establish bank wide independent AI risk governance framework for AI models and agentic systems, covering design, data, training, evaluation, deployment, and post-production monitoring within a 3 lines of defense model.
  • Oversee and opine on assessment outcomes for high‑materiality AI use cases, including GenAI and agentic AI applications.
  • Define enterprise standards for fairness, robustness, reliability, explainability, safety, and responsible AI guardrails, including model risk tiering, control points, and release gates.
  • Operationalize MAS FEAT principles and applicable internal and regulatory requirements across AI and data use.
  • Translate regulatory expectations into actionable validation standards, controls, KRIs/KPIs, and audit‑ready artifacts.
  • Prepare and present AI risk materials for senior management, governance committees, internal audit, and regulators.
  • Perform L2 independent reviews of data lineage, features, architectures, evaluation metrics, and monitoring frameworks.
  • Review AI risk assessments including prompt injection/jailbreaks, data poisoning, behavioral stress scenarios, distribution shift, and failure‑mode analysis for agentic autonomy and tool use.
  • Ensure enforcement of documentation standards (model cards, FEAT assessments, privacy impact assessments), audit trails, and ongoing re‑validation.
  • Act as a senior Line 2 partner to business units, technology, data, cybersecurity, compliance, and legal teams.
  • Serve as a key point of contact with regulators (e.g., MAS) and industry bodies (e.g., ABS) on AI risk‑related matters.
  • Represent Group Risk Management in enterprise AI governance forums and strategic initiatives.

Education Requirements

  • University degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related quantitative discipline.
  • Professional certifications in Responsible AI, model risk management, cybersecurity, privacy, or governance are strongly preferred.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in AI, advanced analytics, model risk management, or AI/ data governance, with significant exposure to financial services or regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and operating at senior management or enterprise governance level.
  • Proven track record engaging regulators, auditors, and senior stakeholders on complex risk topics.
  • Strong grounding in statistical inference, experimental design, uncertainty quantification, and model validation techniques.
  • Deep hands‑on understanding of ML/AI techniques including ensembles, neural networks, transformers, and LLMs.
  • Experience with LLM fine‑tuning (LoRA/PEFT), RLHF/RLAIF, RAG architectures, prompt design and hardening.
  • Expertise in fairness, bias measurement and mitigation, explainability (SHAP, LIME, counterfactuals), and causal analysis.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), containerization, secure SDLC, and AI threat modeling.
  • Strong judgment, executive presence, and ability to challenge constructively at senior levels.
  • Ability to translate highly technical concepts into clear risk narratives for boards, regulators, and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to balance innovation enablement with robust risk control.
