Responsibilities:

• Travels and works independently with contract manufacturing as needed to support current production and new product introduction.
• Evaluates and coordinates the transition of production assets from one contract manufacturer to another, or from China to Vietnam.
• Works with design engineers as interface with the brand, marketing, customer service, quality, returns, and supplier management groups to provide technical product support for related questions and issues.
• Works with assigned Mechanical Engineer(s) to optimize compatibility of electrical and mechanical portions of product designs.
• Works with design engineers to complete documentation and drive documentation process for electrical designs as required.
• Owns electronic design portion of product sustaining efforts, including cost reduction as well as returns reduction efforts.
• Tracks and measures all projects by appropriate methods as directed by manager.
• Proactively supports the company’s Product Cost & DTV efforts to drive cost reductions to meet targets.  Has a strong focus on Tier 2 Electronic components to find alternative component suppliers to maintain performance and reduce cost.
• Works closely with design engineer and contract manufacturer to carry out electrical design reviews for new projects.
• Works closely with design engineer and ATE team as supporting role to solve the issues found in ATE testing.
• Works closely with design engineer and Quality team to define the test items and monitor the test results in the NPI phase.
• Works closely with contract manufacturers, design engineers and document specialists to review the WI and assembly procedure for the responsible projects.
• Be involved with creating electronic designs as part of new product development projects as assigned by manager.
• Acts as mentor/coach to the contract manufacturer engineering team or Vietnam engineering team on related professional fields.

Qualifications:

• Possesses proficient written and oral communication skills in English.
• Possesses excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Familiar with components and consumer electronics products.
• Is self-starting, self-motivated, and a goal-oriented team member.
• Has proficient computer skills including knowledge of common Office software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Fluent with schematic capture and layout software (PADS preferred).
• Fluent with electrical measurement and analysis tools such as multimeter, oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an electrical or electronic engineering and an emphasis in electrical engineering, or equivalent experience/education combination, with 8 years of professional experience; or 5 years of professional experience with a related Master degree.
• Applies extensive technical expertise and has good knowledge of other related disciplines.
• Has ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects at one time to meet deadlines.
• Possesses both the ability to work independently and work with a team to accomplish tasks.
• Can sit for a majority of the workday with minimal walking, bending, and standing required.
• Is willing and able to travel both domestically and internationally.

Accountabilities:

• Leads and drives key Product Cost & DTV Initiatives to meet yearly targets.
• Leads the successful completion of major programs, including pre-pilot and pilot runs and their coordination with the Contract Manufacturer.
• Complete assigned projects according to project timelines and assist in determining technical objectives and approaches to project solutions.
• Complete all project documentation according to RSC process.
• Complete assigned projects within budget

• Provides advice to Mechanical Engineer on mechanically relevant issues.

Relationships:

• Reports to NPI & Support Engineering Manager in China.
• Maintains an effective working relationship with other Technicians and Engineers within the global organization.
• Maintains an effective working relationship with other departments and team members
• Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with product suppliers, contract manufactures, and engineering-consulting partners.
