Painting Material & Process Engineer

Job description:

• Manage painting/coating materials (primer, topcoat, clear coat, etc.), conduct performance tests, and maintain technical specifications.

• Develop and optimize painting processes, including pretreatment, spraying parameters, coating process parameters, and baking conditions.

• Monitor critical parameters such as temperature/humidity, airflow, film thickness, and phosphate quality.

• Support equipment selection, maintenance of spray/oven systems, and process capability improvement.

• Coordinate with suppliers for materials improvement and cost reduction. Contribute to coordinate the technical discussions with suppliers and/or partners for the entrusted projects, involving the necessary internal functions and stakeholders 

• Solve testing and early production defects (orange peel, color variation, runs, pinholes) and improve first-pass yield.

• Prepare design phase process documents, DFMEA/PFMEA, and support NPI validation.

• Ensure compliance with VOC, environmental, and quality system requirements (IATF/ISO).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree or above in materials chemistry.

• 5 years’ experience on automotive painting/coating technology (PVD technology is preferred).

• Basic knowledge of vehicle painting development process.

• Good knowledge Manufacturing and production technologies for automotive components

• Excellent problem solving skills and self-management skills.
